Save Money With a Home Energy Assessment

Local utility companies are providing free attic insulation and other energy saving measures for your qualifying home. Remember, eligibility is based on your home’s energy performance not your income.

Our technicians start off by testing the home for air leaks to document how leaky the home is before we begin our work. We then go into the attic and or Crawlspace and seal Air leaks into the home. After the air seal work is done we run the test again to document how much better the home is sealed. (Also we want to make sure that we do not get the home “too tight.”)

Possibly the most important test that we do is the duct leakage test. This test is designed to see how much of the expensive conditioned air in your ductwork is leaking outside. Most of the duct systems that we test leak 25% or more. Our technicians then go seal the duct system as much as possible. We run the duct test again to document how well we did.

Usually the last thing, but certainly not the least thing we do, is insulate the attic, if it qualifies through the program. Attic Insulation is the most important insulation in the buildings shell, it helps to keep heat in during the winter and out during the summer.

As you can tell this is a very thorough energy efficiency upgrade to your home and can sometimes result in significant energy savings. All these measures are provided at no cost to you, through participating utility companies. The work takes about a half a day to complete and we can usually get it scheduled within a week or two.
